Dijon Johnson 2023 Ohio State Corner back

After their Spring Game this past weekend, Ohio State received a commitment from 4 star recruit Dijon Johnson. Johnson is a 2023 corner back from Wharton Tampa Florida. He is considered the 29th best back in the country and had offers from USC, Georgia, Alabama, and Oklahoma, in addition to many others.

At 6’1″ 170 lbs. Johnson is the first corner back for Ohio State in 2023. He is the 5th Florida prospect to join the team. He stated after his commitment that Ohio State always led for him. It was his dream school growing up and he loves everything about the school and the football program.

Dijon Johnson Visits

Johnson does have two summer visits scheduled including one to Oklahoma and one to USC. He made unofficial visits to Ohio State on April 16th and Oklahoma on March 3rd. Many feel Johnson is a shut-down corner that will make teams avoid an entire side of the field when passing. Last season he had 6 interceptions and returned 4 of them for touchdowns.

Who recruited Dijon Johnson?

Corner backs coach Tim Walton and Tony Alford recruited Johnson. Walton is a new assistant coach with the Buckeyes in 2022 while Alford has been working hard in the state of Florida for Ohio State since joining the school. Others that recruited Johnson include Jay Valai for Oklahoma, Donte Williams for USC, and Travaris Robinson for Alabama.

Dijon Johnson Crystal Ball Predictions

The Crystal Ball predictions came rolling in on the 17th of April right after his visit to Columbus to watch the Spring Game. Bill Kurelic, Andrew Ivins, Steve Wiltfong, Parker Thune, Justin Thind, and Zach Blostein all felt Ohio State was the way Johnson was leaning after his visit. Others feeling Ohio State was his selection on April 17th included Zack Carpenter, John McCuistion, Richard Schnyderite, and Kyle Kelley.

The OSU class for 2023 has 9 commits after Johnson’s decision and is ranked 2nd in the country, currently behind Texas Tech. Other’s in the defensive backfield for OSU in 2023 include safeties Cedrick Hawkins and Malik Hartford.
