St. Edward Lakewood’s Deontae Armstrong Looking at Buckeyes for 2024

The Buckeyes may have an impressive offensive line recruit on their hands: Deontae Armstrong of St. Edwards High School in Lakewood is looking favorably at Ohio State for 2024.

Ohio State could be looking at a powerhouse offensive lineman in 2024, as Deontae Armstrong (twitter) from St. Edwards High School in Lakewood is rumored to have his eye on the Buckeyes. Armstrong has impressive stats and an impressive future ahead of him, making for an exciting prospect for the Ohio State football team.

The Buckeyes have a great start in the 2024 recruiting class as well, with commits of 5-star receiver Jeremiah Smith, 4-star offensive tackle Ian Moore, and 4-star defensive end/safety Garrett Stover. A few other names to keep an eye on include Keanesontn Viliamu-Asa, a Top 100 prospect out of St. John Bosco High School in Bellflower, Calif., who has had an offer from Ohio State for more than a year, and 4-star Pyton Pearce, a Texas native, who received the offer Jan. 20. St. Edward players who are currently being recruited by the Buckeyes include 2023 defensive end Michael Kilbane and 2024 offensive linemen Ben Roebuck, Deontae Armstrong and Devontae Armstrong.

Armstrong, who is rated four stars by 247Sports and Rivals, has been receiving offers from top football colleges across America. Ohio State, Michigan State, Georgia, Penn State, Michigan and Kentucky are among the many schools vying for Armstrong’s commitment. His recruitment still remains open and since no school has his scholarship commitment yet, there is much anticipation surrounding his 2023 season and what team Armstrong will choose to suit up for in 2024.

Devontae Armstrong, including programs like Ohio State, Penn State, Michigan State and Kentucky, has bolstered his rise in recruiting rankings by landing 20-30 offers. Ohio State was an early top program with offers in July last year, and it continues to put together a strong foundation with coach James Franklin and offensive line coach Phil Trautwein, whom Devonte armstrong said they receive texts from nearly daily. Ohio State offensive line coach Sharon Moore has made a point of prioritizing brothers while competing against rivals in the recruiting process.

Deontae Armstrong is a 6’7″, 285-pound offensive lineman from St. Edward High School in Lakewood, Ohio. He’s been playing football since eighth grade and is widely recognized for his outstanding skill set. Armstrong has shown great ability to protect the quarterback and open up running lanes for the various St. Edwards running backs throughout his high school career. He was an All-State selection by The Associated Press in 2022 and looks as if he will be an important factor in successful 2023 season for St. Edwards.
