Last Chance for Analytics

For Browns fans, these are the times that try men’s souls.  This Browns front office has 1 more chance to turn the team around or it will be gone.  I believe that HC Jackson has some time but not the front office.

My experience tells me when someone thinks they are the smartest guy in the room, very often they are not even in the running.  The Browns Front office is trying something different—Analytics.  The do think they are smarter than the rest of the league.  While Analytics works in baseball or basketball, it will not work in football.

One of the things that analytics suggests is trade down to get more draft picks.  That might work if the front office had any idea what they are doing with the extra picks.  Last Monday we detailed the picks that this administration made in 2016.  None of them were ranked in the top 60 in terms of production.  This year began with that same FO failing to get a deal with Pryor who got 1000 yards in his first season as WR with a bunch of nobodies throwing to him.  Instead they got an 8 year veteran who has just … Read more at FryingPanSports

Jonathan Coopers Next Step is The Cleveland Browns!

Jonathan Cooper

Jonathan Cooper is taking a new step in his career starting this week as the Right Guard for the Cleveland Browns.

Despite this new improvement in his career, Jonathan Cooper’s journey has not been an easy one. During this last year, he broke a bone in his leg and was thus placed on the injured reserve list, while working for the Arizona Cardinals in 2013. Then he was traded off to the New England Patriots in March, and then finally was claimed by the Browns.

Now Cooper, a 6’2″, 302 lbs man, will be replacing John Greco who was put on reserve for injuring his foot last week.

“It’s a great opportunity,” Cooper said. This is the time for Cooper to show his teammates what he is capable of.

Cleveland O-line Coach, Hal Hunter, said concerning Cooper, “He is athletic. He is smart. He is tough. Coach Hunters views this misfortune, as a new opportunity for Jonathan Cooper.

Coach Hue Jackson is looking forward to seeing what Jonathan Cooper, “is capable of doing,” and shares Coach Hunter’s sentiments saying, “This is what this league is about, a chance, an opportunity, and when you get it you have to … Read more at FryingPanSports

Revis Says Pryor Is ‘One Of The Best Athletes’ In NFL

This week was quite the week for celebrity back scratching. Darrelle Revis stood up for Terrell Pryor shortly after Pryor stood up for him in the midst of criticism.

Revis praised Pryor by saying that he is one of the best NFL athletes to date. He states the fact that Pryor seemed to flawlessly switch positions as his reason for so supporting him. Revis went on to say that he was happy to see Pittsburgh guys excelling.

Pryor started the player code when he defending Revis through a whole lot of criticism about his speed reduction as a 31-year-old player. Terrelle Pryor said that Revis still had what it took to lock things down.

All praise aside, Revis is correct about Pryor’s ability. Not many people can make such a massive position switch and excel at it like Pryor did. Hue Jackson made a smart move when he made the decision to keep this person around.

Pryor has excellent standings at this moment. He is leading the team in areas such as touchdowns, yards and much more. He is a good  player, and he is solid where he stands. Pryor has proven to be a true diamond in the … Read more at FryingPanSports

Cleveland Browns Terrelle Pryor Can Do It All

Terrelle Pryor began his college football career at Ohio State as the starting quarterback for the Buckeyes.  It makes sense that he now finds himself in Cleveland with the Browns.  He recently showed his skills in receiving, rushing, and passing against the Miami Dolphins team. This player can do it all! And the Browns need him to do it all until they have a solid option at quarterback.

Pryor Switches to Wide Receiver

He boldly switched positions only a year ago to keep his NFL career going.  This receiver is a valuable player because he recently gained 21 yards rushing, 144 yards receiving, and 35 yards passing.  He is the first player since Billy Kilmer in 1964 to catch three passes, throw three passes and carry three times.  This is an impressive feat for any player.

Terrelle Pryor is a valuable asset to the floundering Cleveland Browns (0-3).  Since he is over six feet tall and can run at lightning speed, he adds depth to the team.  The Browns are currently starting their third string quarterback and it is entirely possible that Pryor may be passing even more in the upcoming games.

Hue Jackson is the head coach for the … Read more at FryingPanSports

News, Notes & Rumors Week 1

nfl

News:

The running game in week 1 was WAY down in part because lots of NFL teams have major O line issues.  The Seahawks struggled to score 12 points against the Panthers.  The Browns could not run or pass in a loss to the Dolphins.  The Steelers lose their C Maurkice Pouncey and score only 1 TD.  There was only one RB that got 100+ yards (Shane Vereen of the Pats). and he has a broken bone in his wrist.

Colin Kaepernick QB of the 49ers was outstanding against the Packers.  He was 27-39 412 yards with 3 TDs and no picks.  His new best friend is former Raven WR Anquan Boldin who caught 13 passes for 208 yards and a TD.  Despite only running for a total of 90 yards the Niners beat the Pack.   Jim Harbaugh is going to owe brother John a REALLY nice Christmas gift for the trade of Boldin.

While the Bills D played well, the Pats are clearly hurt by the loss of targets for Tom Brady.  Of course the two fumbles by RB Stevan Ridley did not help the O.  The same can be said for the Ravens losing … Read more at FryingPanSports
