What it takes to become an NFL Fan

Are you a fan of the NFL? How do you consider yourself as one? Well, to be a true and proven NFL fan, it goes without saying that you love everything about football—the rules, the regulations, and the intrigue surrounding the league.

What do the letters NFL stand for? NFL is otherwise called the National Football League. This is the biggest among all professional American Football leagues that was formed year 1920. The NFL started with merely 11 members. At present, there are now 32 teams divided into two conferences and four divisions.

Each regular season of the NFL culminates into the championship event that is the Super Bowl. This consists of the division champions from the American Football Conference as well as the National Football Conference. These division champions meet on neutral grounds to garner every NFL fan’s dream, the Super Bowl championship.

The Super Bowl is a big event in the United States, and not just for NFL fans. Some people who do not care that much for the game still watch the Super Bowl for its amazing half-time shows multi-million dollar commercial sponsorships from major US corporations like Coca-Cola and Pepsi Co. A big-name celebrity is also … Read more at FryingPanSports

Top 5 NFL Quarterbacks of All-Time

#5 John Elway – Denver Broncos

John Elway had about a storied of a career as you can have as a quarterback.  After much Super Bowl disappointment early in his career Elway ended his storybook career as a signal caller who back-to-back Super Bowl crowns.  Maybe the most famous of Elway’s career was the 98 yard drive he led the Broncos on in the 1987 AFC Championship vs. the Browns to secure Denver a trip to the Super Bowl.  He was a 9-time pro bowler, NFL Hall of Famer, and 1987 league MVP.  When we think Broncos nowadays we think John Elway, who is now apart of the team’s front office as well.

#4 Johnny Unitas – Baltimore Colts

Yeah, he played for other teams, but Unitas was above all a Baltimore Colt.  Unitas was important to the game because he absolutely revolutionized what we know now as the passing game.  He is looked at by many as being the original QB prototype that all others after him would be judged.  Unitas played in the pre-Super Bowl era so he had 3 NFL championships and was named a pro-bowler 10 times.  He was a 3 time MVP and truly the … Read more at FryingPanSports

The media has missed the point on PG Jeremy Lin

Lin has had more face time on TV and in print over the last few days than Pres. Obama.  And in my opinion, he is a great story.  But everyone has missed the real significance of the story.

Most analysts are comparing Lin to Tim Tebow.  While the public love for the two players is similar that is the end of the comparison.  Tebow was the most celebrated college player since Archie Griffin won his second Heisman trophy.  Tebow was a first round draft choice.  Lin had been passed around the NBA like a bowl of Fritos at a Super Bowl party.

I compare the Lin story to that of Ram QB Kurt Warner.  Kurt was stocking grocery store shelves before getting a call from the team.  In 1999 he was put on the veteran expansion draft list for the Browns to take when they came back into the league.

People forget Warner had been the MVP of the NFL Europe league.  He had also been very successful in the indoor football league as well.  Despite my screaming at the TV during the broadcast of the Browns stocking draft, they passed on Warner.  As we all know he went on … Read more at FryingPanSports

Is Eagle HC Reid on the hot seat?

Several months ago on NFLDraftDog.com I mentioned that Eagles HC Reid was on the hot seat.  This
was just one more example of my information and instincts being right.  More than a year before OC Weis left the
Chiefs for a lateral move to the OC spot at Florida, I reported that there was a conflict between him and HC Haley.

Last Sunday, a local Philly paper reported that the Reid era of the Eagles may be coming to an end.  There
are several reasons that is happening.   First, and most significant, there is a growing split between Eagle
owner Jeffrey Lurie and HC Reid.  The clearest evidence of that split was the issue of the starting QB between Mike
Vick and Kevin Kolb.  Reid named Kolb the starter for the 2010 season.  When he got hurt Vick became an exciting fan favorite.
But Reid announced that when Kolb recovered he would regain his starting spot.  Less than a week after that Vick
was named the starter for the rest of the season.  As the 2011 season finally got underway, Kolb was traded to the Cards and the spitting contest between the owner and coach over this issue was settled.… Read more at FryingPanSports
