One of The Best Muay Thai Websites

Best Muay Thai Website

Muay Thai is a combat sport that originated in Thailand back in the 19th century. The sport came to light internationally in the 20th century after practitioners from other forms of martial arts were defeated by Muay Thai practitioners.

There’s a lot to Muay Thai as a sport than meets the eye. Whether you want to study this form of martial arts for self-defense or for professional reasons, it is important that you learn more about the sport before indulging yourself. For instance, a huge misconception is that if your opponent is big and has huge muscles then that their punches will hit harder. Muay Thai teaches us that punching is a snapping motion and it doesn’t really matter how big your opponents muscles are. It’s basically science which means that the speed at which you accelerate a punch, translates to the power at which it lands on your opponent.

If you’d like to learn more on Muay Thai whether you are a beginner or would like to take up the sport for the first time, you’d be better off searching the internet for the BestMuayThai website. From such a website, you can learn more on … Read more at FryingPanSports

Bowl Championship Series RIP

The College Presidents’ Oversight Committee has approved a four team seeded playoff.  It is WAY overdue.

It is hard to understand why it took the ivy covered college presidents so long to realize their dream of squeezing more money out of the sport of football.  Any form of playoff would automatically generate a lot more money than the BcS ever did.  While this plan is a major step forward, I still have a lot of questions.

My first question is why did this take so long?  We hear that the Bowl system had to be protected.  Who among us did not shed a tear when the Poulan Weedeater Bowl went belly up?  I have more to say about the Bowls later.  But when a team must only win 6 games to qualify, how important can the bowl be?

Then there was the argument that a playoff would negatively impact the student-athletes.  But those same educators have no issues with the basketball players missing 3 weeks of school for the NCAA basketball championships.  And those require teams to visit 3 different cities.

Second it will not start until the 2014.  WHY?  Because none of the supporters of the BcS can … Read more at FryingPanSports

Betting For The 2012-13 NFL Season Begins

The upcoming National Football League (NFL) appears to be gearing up with intensity. Odds on the 2012-13 conference winners, Super Bowl champion and other match-ups are already being offered by several online Sports-books.

Super Bowl 2012-13 Favorites

The Green Bay Packers have been listed as favorites for Super Bowl champions by several sports betting sites including 888Sports, William Hill and bet365 and their odds range from 6/1 to 11/2. Odds of 7/1 are being offered by Hill on the Patriots, 10/1 on the Texans , 14/1 on the Eagles and 49ers. The other betting sites are pretty much in line with these numbers.

888Sports has odds of 18/1 on the 2012-13 winners, the Giants, while Hill and bet365 have odds of 20/1 hinting that the Giants may not repeat their victory. Therefore, this season offers a great chance to bet on an unlikely winner.

The History of the Grand Slam

Originally applied to golfing tournaments in the 1930s, the term “Grand Slam” was first used for tennis by John Kieran, a newspaper columnist. Today, The Grand Slam refers to the four major tournaments in the sport of tennis. The tournaments are ranked according to world tour ranking, public attention, prize-money, number of players and player field size. The four major grand slam tennis tournaments include Wimbledon, The French Open, the US Open and the Australian Open.

The term grand slam is used to indicate that a player has won all the four major tennis tournaments in a single calendar year. For many years, the term grand slam has also been used to refer to the major tournaments themselves.

The View from the Umpire Chair: Not Always the Best Seat in the House

Typically, when we watch tennis matches we focus on the players; watching it on our television or, if we are lucky enough, from a seat in the stands. But do you ever wonder what a tennis match would look like sitting in the umpire chair?

Sitting in the umpire chair during a match not only gives you the best view but you are the final say on all calls; a rather powerful position.

Although sitting in the umpire chair gives a sense of authority, the view from the top isn’t always as great as you would think.

In September of 2011, many top tennis officials decided not to participate in the US Open and opted to give up their prime seat on the umpire chair.

The 2011 US Open raked in a record high $23.7 million in prize money with the tournaments total earnings exceeding $200 million. Despite the tournament`s high revenue,  the gold badge chair umpires, some who officiate at the legendary Wimbledon tournament, only make $250 per day sitting in the umpire chairs at the US Open; the lowest pay for any Grand Slam tournament.

A retired gold badge chair umpire, Norm Chryst, stated that, “The U.S. Open … Read more at FryingPanSports
