AFC Half Season Grades

Here are my AFC Half Season Grades.

AFC East

New England Offense is outstanding Defense is average. A-

Miami Offense is very inconsistent Defense is consistently bad C-

New York Jets This team is not going anywhere. D

Buffalo This team is in for a long couple of seasons. D

AFC North

Pittsburgh The Offense finally got going. The Defense needs to get better. B

Cincinnati I have no idea how the have 5 wins. Offense struggles & Defense is worse. D

Cleveland Fired the HC & OC That says it all. F-

AFC South

Houston Defense is nearly back & Watson is getting better. B-

Tennessee This team can’t get out of its one way on Offense. The Defense has stats but can’t play. D

Jacksonville This team is a mess on both sides. Bortles struggles & so does the Defense. C-

Indianapolis has Luck and nothing else. D

AFC West

Kansas City Offense is outstanding. Good thing O scores a lot because D gives up a ton of them. B+

LA Chargers Rivers is great. Run gm is top 10. OL is OK. Defense is better but needs a pass rush. B-

You might think your team has a chance to make the playoffs, well they don’t. Here’s my AFC Playoff projections.

	AFC Teams that have no chance for the playoffs
	AFC East
BF	Traded away the only QB that got them into the playoffs in 17 years 0 chance to get to playoffs
MI	Have a WR playing QB. ENOUGH SAID.
NJ	They were 5-11 and have a D that has aged out.

	AFC North
CL	The team is better but still not good enough to get into the playoffs. 0-16 last year
CN	RV Dalton has not led CN to a win in the playoffs in his career. He won’t this year either.

	AFC South This is the most competitive division in the AFC.
IN	Luck is back but the D, OL and run game are no better.
TN	Marcus Mariota and the DBS are the issue that will keep TN out of the playoffs.

	AFC West
DV	Even Case Keenum won’t make up for a bad DB and a bad DL.
KC	The combination of a bad HC and a new QB keeps KC out of the play offs.
OK	Derek Carr and the D will keep OK out

	Broncos
QB	Case Keenum
	Has GM John Elway found his franchise QB? B-

RB	Devontae Booker or Royce Freeman
	Booker did not run well last season. Freeman will challenge this season. C-

WR	Demaryius Thomas & Emmanuel Sanders
	Thomas is top 20 but Sanders is not. C

TE	Jake Butt
	Lost all last year from Inj. B-

OL	lt Garett Bolles lg Ronald Leary c Matt Paradis rg Connor McGovern rt Jared Veldheer
	lt Bolles was a rookie but played OK rt Veldheer is decent, Middle of OL is an issue. B-

DL	le Derek Wolfe nt Domata Peko re Bradley Chubb
	Chubb is the hope for DL. D

LB	slb Shane Ray lib Brandon Marshall rib Todd Davis wolb Von Miller
	Miller leads the pass rush Marshall leads the team in run stops B

DB	lc Bradley Roby rc Chris Harris Jr. fs Darian Stewart ss Justin Simmons
	cbs are a disaster safeties are decent C

	Chiefs
QB	Patrick Mahomes
	Very unproven and a big risk D for now D

RB	Kareem Hunt
	Hunt is a keeper if he

	AFC West

	Broncos
4	DV drafted 2 RBS & 2 WRS. Is that enough to fix the O?
3	The D got some pass rush by taking Edge rusher Bradley Chubb. Will they understand how to use him most effectively?
2	The D was solid except in ppg. Lots of that was due to O turnovers. Can a better O help the D get better?
1	DV signed Case Keenum to big contract. Will that solve the QB issues for DV?

	Chargers
4	RB Melvin Gordon scored 12 TD & had 1000 rushing yards. Can he do that again this season?
3	TE Hunter Henry was lost for 18 with an ACL tear & released Antonio Gates. Can the TE position contribute to playoffs?
2	The 1st 4 picks were on D. 2 were Safeties. Pass Rush is solid. Did LC do enough on D to get into the playoffs?
1	Q Philip Rivers was outstanding last yr after leading in picks in 16. Can he duplicate last year’s results this season?

	Chiefs
4	Can the OL stay healthy in 2018?
3	The OL was hurt but the Run gm was solid. Can R Kareem Hunt duplicate his 17 season?

DV 5	How fast can Elway get QB Paxton Lynch ready?
4	Can Run game be top 5 this year? It will have to be.
3	Can DV D Overcome D losses of DT Williams, olb Watson & cb Watson?
2	Can the additions on O line of Leary & Watson solve the problem?
1	Can DV win games with Siemian at QB or will Lynch start for DV?

KC 5	Was OT Okung addition by subtraction?
4	Can RB Kareem Hunt replace Charles as the all-around back?
3	Can Smith find anyone to catch the ball since Maclin is gone?
2	Did KC do enough to replace FA DT Dontari Poe?
1	Did the move up to get Mahomes indicate KC are not happy with Smith?

OK 5	When will S Reggie Nelson and Karl Joseph return to work?
4	Who will carry the ball for OK? Lynch is 96 and the others are small.
3	Did OK do enough at REC getting WR Patterson & TE Cook?
2	Can OLB Irvin give OK Pass rush opposite DE Mack?
1	When will QB Derek Carr be ready to start and will he be as effective as last year?
