Should Former USC RB Reggie Bush be stripped of his Heisman trophy?

s

Yahoo sports is reporting that the Heisman committee will strip Reggie Bush of his trophy by the end of September. According to my sources, no vote has been taken by the committee yet but there have been discussions about the issue.

WHY HE SHOULD:

There is not question that he and his parents received benefits that would have made him ineligible to play under NCAA rules. The Heisman bylaws say that the player must be eligible to play in order to be considered for the award. While Bush was eligible, had the NCAA known about the housing and other benefits that he and his family received, he would not have been.

His actions or failure to prevent actions of those around him have caused his school irreparable harm by suspension of bowl opportunities and loss of scholarships. His actions caused those that followed him to USC to pay for his indiscretions.

Pete Carroll, the former HC of the Trojans now that he slipped out of town to Seattle and the NFL, claims he knew nothing about it. Ditto by former Athletic Director Mike Garrett. I have to wonder about that. While my semi-pro teams never had 100 players, in the … Read more at FryingPanSports

What did we learn from the Wild Card Round?

If you go in to the playoffs cold, you may be in trouble–sometimes.

Bengals—UCH!!! The play of QB Palmer raises serious questions about his future. He was 18-36 for just 146 yards and 1 TD with 1 pick. The WRs did not help him. WR Edwards dropped a TD that would have made a real difference in the flow of the game. But Palmer missed open WRs regularly in short as well as deep throws. That can not happen at this level. The Jets put some pressure on him but not enough to justify the bad misses.

The running game went well enough and the D was OK. However, the D did not get enough pressure on the rookie QB Sanchez. I predicted that the Bengals would not go far but I did think they would beat the Jets.

Eagles—UCH2!!! The Eagles are going to have to fix their O to become competitive. They have to be able and willing to run the ball some to be effective. In both games against the Boys they failed to hold the ball to give the D rest. There were way too many 3 and outs. Until they can run the … Read more at FryingPanSports
