The trade for Love is a test for GM Griffin.

LeBron

Make no mistake about it. LeBron James is testing his new GM David Griffin to get Kevin Love. If Griffin fails the test LeBron “could” consider opting out after his first or second year. That does not mean he will leave Cleveland, but it does mean that this test will determine if Griffin is still the GM in 2015-16 season.

There is no question that LeBron coming back to the Cavs is the best news Cleveland sports fans have had since the Browns drafted Jim Brown. In my opinion Love will not sign a long term deal with any team except the Cavs. Like Cavs fans, Love is sick to death of losing and wants to win. The best chance to do that is in Cleveland with LeBron and Kyrie Irving.

If teams see Love as a rental, his trade value will decrease significantly. For example Golden State is not likely to give up SG Klay Thompson to get Love for a year. But the question is will the Cavs be willing to wait to make a deal for Love?

Johnny Manziel should watch LeBron James to see how to be a pro.

Manziel Drft

Tonight we will discuss the return of LeBron James and all the ramifications of that move with David Kay of walterfootball.com and the latest Browns news 6PM EDT on News, Notes & Rumors on or https://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/.

One of the most promising things that has happened recently in Cleveland sports is the return of LeBron James to the Cavs. Despite being the best basketball player in the world, we never see LeBron making a fool of himself in his off time. Even at 18, he handled himself in a professional manner. However that is not the case for Johnny Manziel.

Manziel looks up to LeBron and should follow his example in both selecting friends and enjoying his down time. They are clearly friends. We can hope that some of LeBron’s professionalism rubs off on Manziel. Somehow I doubt that will happen.

That is what I think. Tell us what you think by commenting here or tweeting me @NNRonDSN.

LeBron James has put serious pressure on the Timberwolves.

LeBron

Monday we will discuss the return of LeBron James and all the ramifications of that move with David Kay of walterfootball.com 6PM EDT on News, Notes & Rumors on or https://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/.

First let me say I am delighted that LeBron James, the best basketball player on earth, is coming back to the Cavs in the prime of his career. Now there is pressure on Pat Riley and the Heat. But LeBron also put serious pressure on the Timberwolves.

Decision 2 has eliminated nearly all the possible trade options for the Timberkitties’ only asset—Kevin Love. It has also prevented any chance of a sign and trade with anyone other than the Cavs. Love wants to win a title and he has 0 chance to get that in Minnesota. He will only go to Cleveland. He will not sign an extension with any other team even if he is traded.

Without a chance of an extension, Love’s value in a trade is badly reduced. No team will give up something like Andrew Wiggins for a rental player. So expect the Cavs to try to make a deal now and if it does not succeed at the trade deadline as well. … Read more at FryingPanSports

Phil Jackson is Mike Holmgren-lite!

nba.jpg

Those of you that read FPS regularly know I was never a big fan of the Browns bringing in Mike Holmbren as President of the team. I really like and respect Phil Jackson but as a coach not as the guy making talent decisions. Jackson and Holmgren have a lot in common.

Holmgren was the HC/GM of the Seahawks for several years until he was stripped of his GM duties due to bad drafts. Jackson has never been the talent evaluation guy officially. Yes, he had a lot of power at LA but he had no hand in building the team. The same was the case in Chicago. Both teams were built before Jackson arrived. While he was able to massage HUGE egos of NBA players to get the most out of them, he stepped into a perfect situation that was ready to win in both cases.

Both Holmgren and Jackson prefer to live on the west coast or Jackson’s home in Montana. Having lived through one of the worst winters in Ohio history, I can relate to that. Even traveling around town during the snow and ice storms is a pain. The time spent waiting in airports … Read more at FryingPanSports

Browns vs Ratbirds (RB) Week 4 in game notes.

Nice run on the first play but the O died due to a bad play call and no blocking against the blitz.

Again a weak punt gives the RBs nice field position.

=

Got some pressure on Flacco and the pass was wide

Jauron has a plan to cover Rice. It worked on 2nd down.

Skrine with good coverage on the WR

A great job by the front 4 so far against the run and the pass.  Stopped Rice on 3rd and short.

The ruling on the Cribbs fumble is WRONG.  The play is dead when the helmet comes off.  It is impossible to recover a dead ball.  The ball should have been given back to the Browns because they were the last team to legally possess it prior to the ball  becoming dead.

The new helmet rule has confused both the rule makers and the “real” refs.   The rule may have to be updated to prevent a fumble being caused by a legal hit recoverable.  Again, you can’t recover a dead ball.

Great pick by Robertson.  He saved the league and the refs.  He should be the starter because he has the speed and instincts … Read more at FryingPanSports
