ESPN Launches Food Scorecards

Some horrible and obnoxious things were found when the health department’s inspection reports were reviewed by ESPN. These reports were of arenas and stadiums in North America where some major sporting events were held. As per these reports, around 30% of all the venues which were host to leagues in 2009 had more than 50% of their food and beverage vendors receiving certification that they had violated the standards that were set for handling food (though the drink holders seemed somewhat sanitary). All the violations as reported were critical and very major. The violations mainly were storing the food and then serving at an inadequate temperature which will stimulate the growth of pathogens. The food was served at improper temperature as there were no proper equipments, the staff members did not follow hygienic practices as they did not wash hands after using restrooms and touching their faces, the cooking place was infested with insects and rodents which could easily contaminate the food and usage of same equipment for doing different things.

The report of the department brought to the notice major violations of standards and most of these can prove to be extremely dangerous. Though the reviews and the findings … Read more at FryingPanSports

Helping Kids Enjoy Camping

Booming technology definitely made our lives better but because of technology, things are not quite the same. There are changes that happened on our society which can make some of us regret why technology happened at all. One of these is the fact that people today don’t have so much time enjoying outdoors. The kids specially are the ones which are affected the most. Most kids acquired the same mentality that their parents show, that you can get it all in the comforts of your home. Actually, it’s not true. Camping for instance is still the best way for kids to enjoy outdoors. Without opening their hearts and minds to the fun and excitement camping can give them, kids will prefer being stuck at home forgetting everything about nature. Continue to read below to find out how you can encourage your kids to go camping.

If you are a parent who is in the process of introducing camping to your kids, the first step will be showing your kids that you are eager to go camping yourself. Everything starts with you. Make this a special event for you and your kids. When they see that you make a big deal … Read more at FryingPanSports

Tuesday QB—Projecting the playoffs at the 3/4th pole.

AFC Seeds

  1. Colts At 12-0 there is little chance anyone will beat the Colts for home field.
  2. Chargers SD has a lead over Cincy in the AFC record. If SD can beat Cincy at home in week 15 they will clinch this spot.
  3. Patriots The loss to Miami last week eliminated any chance of the Pats to avoid the Wild Card round but they have an easy schedule the rest of the way. Their key game will be in week 17 against the Jags who might be fighting for a playoff spot themselves.
  4. Bengals  Cincy has the toughest remaining schedule of the top 4. I can’t see them winning at the Vikes and then at the Chargers to win the 2nd spot. Instead, they will likely lose both and end up in the 4th spot even if they can beat the Jets.
  5. Broncos Denver will probably lose 2 out of their 3 games left winning only against Oakland but their hot start has kept them in the race. They will lose to the Colts and the Eagles but hang on by a fingernail to the 5th spot.
  6. Jags or Ravens The Jags have a 1 game lead

MLB All Star weekend troubles.

t

What does everyone want to be named to but nobody wants to go to? Answer—the MLB All Star Game. Many players earn a bonus if they are named to the game only to find they are unable to participate because they are totally disabled by a potentially fatal case of hangnail.

The American League has no players entered in the home run derby. Even the HRD which has been the one shining star in MLB’s All Star Weekend has some serious rust on it. While every All Star game has challenges, MLB’s game seems to be the most endangered.

Who wouldn’t give up a weekend off at home with the family in the middle of July to spend a couple of days on the field at St. Louis in 100 degree 100% humidity? Evidently plenty of people wouldn’t. Even the NFL has decided that to get anyone to play in their post season game, they have to hold it in Hawaii. Baseball holds their game in the middle of the season. Maybe they should put a franchise in Hawaii too. At least the weather would be better.

Players are afraid of injury. Remember Pete Rose running over Cleveland’s Ray Fosse … Read more at FryingPanSports
