Ohio State Defensive Back Jantzen Dunn from Bowling Green Kentucky

A number of schools were pursing Dunn including Oklahoma, Tennessee, USC, Louisville, Miami, Ohio State and Georgia Tech. Reports had Dunn going to Oklahoma a week ago and then a sudden flip to Ohio State. Coach Lincoln Riley, Oklahoma, made a post on Twitter over the weekend indicating that Dunn was a done deal going to the Sooners. But Ohio State got into action shortly there-after and told Dunn that he was a top priority and he changed his mind.

The Jantzen Dunn Recruitment

Dunn made two visits to Columbus prior to his commitment. He came and watched the Penn State game in November when he did not have an offer (Ohio State beat the Nittany Lions 28-17). He returned again at the beginning of March when he did get a scholarship offer from Ryan Day. He did not make any visits to Oklahoma.

Dunn was recruited by Matt Barnes, OSU assistant secondary coach, and Kerry Coombs.

What Ohio State Gets in Jantzen Dunn

At 6’2” and 190lbs. Dunn recorded a 4.54 40 yard dash along with a 4.15 shuttle. He is ranked the 15th best athlete in the country and the 3rd best recruit in Kentucky. Last season he had 1 interception and 37 tackles. He played both safety and wide receiver.

He could play safety or corner back at the next level. Ohio State likes his versatility along with his long wing-span and ability to flip his hips quickly. He has great speed across the field and on a straight line. Many compare Dunn to current OSU d-back Ryan Watts, who was also headed to Oklahoma at one point in his recruitment. Both Dunn and Watts trained in Dallas at the True Buzz Athletics.
