Ohio State Carson Hinzman Offensive Center for 2022

On January 4th, 2022, Carson Hinzman committed to Ohio State and signed a Letter of Intent on February 2nd. The change in lineman coach Greg Studrawa to Justin Frye had little effect on him. Hammond Wisconsin St Croix Central was his high school. He received 23 offers in total, with Iowa, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Ohio State among his top choices.

Was recruiting by a number of coaches from around the country including Greg Studrawa for Ohio State, Kevin Mawae for Arizona State, Will Friend for Auburn, George Barnett and Tim Polasek for Iowa, Jeff Myers for Iowa State, Phil Trautwein for Penn State, Kyle Flood for Texas, Vance Vice for Virginia Tech, Chris Haering and Joe Rudolph for Wisconsin, Jeff Quinn and Tommy Rees for Notre Dame, and Freddie Roach for Alabama.

Hinzman visited Ohio State on 9-11-2021 for the Penn State game and 6-11-2021. Went to Iowa on 6-2-19, 7-28-2019, 10-12-2019 and 6-25-2021. Was at Notre Dame on 6-18-2021. And visited Wisconsin a number of times including 6-23-2019, 9-21-2019, 9-28-2019, 6-4-2021, and 9-4-2021.

Running Back DeaMonte Trayanum Transfers to Ohio State

DeaMonte Trayanum (Twitter) played for the Sun Devils of Arizona State at running back but entered the transfer portal on November 29th. He was a running back coming out of high school and is transferring to Ohio State to play linebacker in 2022. Will be back in Ohio on January 11th.

DaeMonte Trayanum High School Career

Trayanum went to Akron Hoban High School in Ohio, a 4 star recruit in 2020, the 25th best running back, and 5th best overall player in Ohio. He was a 3 star player in the transfer portal. Always considered a linebacker by the Buckeyes, he returns home to play a familiar position he played in high school.

Ohio State Recruitment

Tony Alford, Al Washington, and Jim Knowles all recruited him for Ohio State. Ohio State and Michigan had both offered him scholarships. OSU was able to convert Steele Chambers from running back to linebacker in he third year with great success, and hopes to do the same with Trayanum.

Joshua Padilla, top rated recruit out of Wayne Dayton Ohio, committed to Ohio State on November 4th. Padilla stands at 6’4″ and weighs 270 pounds. He is a 4 star recruit, considered the 8th best inside offensive lineman and the 4th best overall player in Ohio for 2023.

Padilla is being recruited by Kevin Wilson and Greg Studrawa for Ohio State and also Marco Coleman and Brent Key for Georgia Tech.

Padilla has taken visits on September 18th (unofficial visit) to Penn State, June 24th (unofficial visit) to Miami Florida, June 19th (unofficial visit) to Penn State, and visited the home state team June 8th for Ohio State’s school camp.

Defensive End Omari Abor From Duncanville Texas

Omari Abor plays for Duncanville Texas high school. The 6’4″, 240-pound defensive end is a 5-star recruit, the 18th best overall prospect, the 2nd best edge player in the country, and the 6th best overall prospect in Texas.

Alabama has Jay Valia and Freddie Roach recruiting Abor. LSU has Andre Careter in charge of recruiting him. While Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson is recruiting him for the Buckeyes. Ohio State is hopeful the highly recruited prospect selects the Buckeyes as his destination to 2022.

Defensive End Omari Abor Visits

He visited Ohio State on June 4th, LSU on June 11th, and Alabama on June 25th. Ohio State offered him a scholarship in November 2020 and the visit went very well with him meeting with Ryan Day and Larry Johnson while in Columbus. The Buckeye’s ability to get edge players drafted in the first round is a factor for recruits at the position.

Tennessee Tight End Ty Lockwood Now a 2023 Ohio State Commit

Ohio State got the tight-end they greatly needed for 2023 when in the middle of August Ty Lockwood from Independence High School in Thompson’s Station TN gave a verbal commitment to the program. The four star recruit made the announcement shortly before starting his junior season.

Lockwood, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end/wide receiver, is rated as the No. 3 overall prospect in the state of Tennessee for the class of 2023 and the No. 8 tight end nationally. Playing for Independence High School in Thompson’s Station, Tennessee, Lockwood registered 43 receptions for 606 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore a year ago.

Ohio State 2023 Recruiting Class

Bennett Christian, a 6-foot-6, 235 pounds, a top-rated tight end for the prior cycle is committed to Ohio State but they were looking for two at the position for the class. He picked up an offer from the Buckeyes during his official visit for one of their satellite camps back in June 2017. It’s becoming increasingly likely he’s the only tight end Ohio State will take 2022.
