Ohio State picked up a 2022 tight end commit this week in Pilot Mountain East Surry prospect Benji Gosnell. The 6’4” 225 lbs. 4 star player is considered the 11th best tight end in the nation for 2022 and the 9th best player overall in North Carolina. He was recruited by assistant coach Kevin Wilson for the Buckeyes and had offers from 18 schools including Florida, Duke, Arkansas, North Carolina (he has a brother currently playing for the Tar Heels) and Penn State. His current coach (Lowman) is friends with coach Wilson since growing up in the same area.
Why Ohio State?
Gosnell decided on joining Ohio State after watching the Buckeyes beat Penn State on Saturday. He liked what he saw in the way Ohio State utilized their tight ends in the game. And he felt Luke Farrell and Jeremy Ruckert were complete players with their ability to block and catch. That is something he wants for his college development, to become a complete tight end.
Last season Gosnell went 422 yards on 25 catches along with 5 touchdowns.
