Allatoona High School’s Bennett Christian has mentioned his interest in Ohio State football and recently committed to the Buckeyes. Among the Buckeyes, other schools that he has expressed interest in are Penn State and Tennessee. Penn State is, however, out of the list after they recently accepted a commitment from a Holden State four-star tight end. In a recent statement, Bennett mentions Ohio State as a winning program. It is one of those schools that will boost his career and offer him an opportunity to win a national championship.
Together with his dad, Bill Christian, a former Tennessee player, they visited the campus to look at everything. In a virtual meeting with the coaches, he placed everything into perspective and mapped it all. Ohio State becomes the third school for him to visit, including Tennessee and Georgia Tech.
Christian’s recruitment journey hasn’t ended; he is yet to make a decision and announce it on Instagram Live on September 1st.
Who is Bennett Christian?
Christian Bennett, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound tight end who hails from Acworth, Georgia. He does not have a composite ranking yet, but 247 Sports and Rivals rates him as a three-star prospect for 2022 legacy. He’s also ranked number 18 nationally among tight ends. Bennett takes after his father, who played defensive tackle for Johnny Mayors in 1977 and 1979.
His versatility, ability to block and catch, is what attracts Ohio State coach Wilson. He can play a different linebacker position, a feature that is putting him on a prospective edge to recruiters. He appreciates the fact that he can do it all.
At the moment there are no Rivals Future Cast but 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions for Christian Bennett have him going to the Buckeyes in 2022.
Ohio State Football Class
Ohio State is ranked no.2 in AP poll behind LSU, despite having its season postponed. It is expected to recruit two tight ends in the 2022 class if all goes well. There are currently 5 verbal commitments including Gabe Powers, Dasan McCullough, CJ Hicks, Tegra Tshabola, and Jyaire Brown.
Their 2020 class had five start recruits, including wide receiver Julian Fleming, offensive tackle Paris Johnson, and receiver Jaxon Smith.
The Buckeyes witnessed a productive tight end join the team with Jeremy Ruckert in their last season. Jeremy caught 14 passes and scored the first touchdowns.
Christian has not confirmed his commitment yet, but he is a face that could take up the future of Buckeyes. It is thus a wait for Ohio State.
The tight end is the focus of most players. Jeremy Pruitt, for instance, has his eyes on it after not making any commitment for 2020. Aside from Christian, there are three other players in the same position for 2021; Roc Taylor, Jaylen Wright, and Hudson Wolfe.
Bennett Christian Commitment
Ohio State got their sixth member of the 2022 recruiting class at the end of August 2020 when Christian verbally decided to be a Buckeye. Although his family has a history with Tennessee, Christian chose OSU for his college destination. He visited Columbus two weeks before his commitment which led to his final decision. His strong relationship with the coaching staff, including tight-ends coach Kevin Wilson, was a strong pull for the Georgia product.Bennett Christian : All You Need To Know by Steven R
