Arvell Reese is an athletic Linebacker from Glenville in Cleveland, OH. Arvell Reese has been committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes since 2022 when he had a great junior season with many hard hits and sacks. According to reports, the 6’4″, 205-pound recruit will sign his letter of intent in December during the early signing period.
He announced his commitment on Twitter: “I’m excited to announce I am committing to. @OhioStateFB.”

What Ohio State Gets in Reese
Reese is a versatile defender with the ability to rush the quarterback and cover at linebacker. He has a wide set of physical tools that should make him a fit for most NFL schemes. Reese, an Ohio State recruit, was voted the Division IV Defensive Player of the Year by the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association.
Arvell Reese Recruitment
What: Arvell Reese had nearly 30 offers before selecting Ohio State. At the next level, he can play inside or outside linebacker due to his speed and range. The Buckeyes have been searching for quality linebacker recruits for quite a while now, so adding a player like Reese definitely puts them back in the hunt for a top 5 finish on signing day.
The Move To Glenville
Since he made the decision to go to the Cleveland high school that has sent many players to Columbus, Reese has spent the past year watching his reputation soar.
Reese showed elite athletic ability while playing at Euclid Ohio High School but was not being recruited well. He was greatly under the radar for someone of his size, frame, and explosiveness. But the move the Glenville has opened the door to many offers from top D1 programs across the country.
He is ranked as the No. 228 player nationally in the 2023 class, the No. 15 ranked linebacker and the No. 5 player in the state of Ohio. On Saturday, he helped Cleveland Glenville earn its first state title with a 26-6 victory over Cincinnati Wyoming.
Why Ohio State
Reese’s connection to the Buckeyes has been for his whole life. But that did not prevent him from being recruited by other programs. After much recruitment, he narrowed his list of finalists down to Michigan, Alabama and Kentucky. Arriving in Columbus for an official visit, it quickly became clear that Ohio State was the place for him.
The Glenville to All-American Bowl Pipeline
Another Tarblooder is traveling to the United States Army All-American Bowl, continuing what seems to be a yearly tradition at Glenville High School.
