Sporting News Today reported that the NBA is making a basic change in the way that the Development League is going to be managed next season. The Development League is a replacement for the original Continental Basketball Association which Isiah Thomas, the current head coach of the Florida International basketball team, bought and drove into the ground like a Canadian goose shot out of the air by a canon.
First, there are a few teams to whom we must explain the draft process. They don’t seem to understand that it is not only who you draft but when you draft them that determines not only how good the draft was but long term how your team will do.
The grades for the NFC seem to be a bit higher than the AFC.
We all know that it is impossible to really know how a draft of any particular team will work out until 3 to 5 years after the fact. So, ignoring that truth, let’s look at the preliminary score card because everyone else will be doing it.

One of the great mistakes that some NFL teams seem to commit every year is forcing the draft and not letting it come to them. A QB that tries to force his will on the D will get picked more often than those that see the field and throw to the open receiver. That is a fact of life. It is the same thing with the draft.
Yesterday we looked at a few unknown offensive players that have NFL potential. Today, we look at the D side of the ball.
Here are a few of the offensive players I found that have NFL potential but are not highly regarded by most scouting sites or draft experts. I will post some D players tomorrow.
The draft like life is based on rules. In both, it isn’t how much you know, or who you know that gives you the power to succeed. It is how much you know about who you know that gives you power.
Draft fans that try to figure out which guys in the draft are gems and which are fools gold are at a major disadvantage. The NFL teams get a lot more game tape than we do. They also get to interview the kids, and they are kids after all. But there are some things we have that too many NFL teams don’t seem to understand.
