The Browns draft needs this year.

NOTE: Today on NNR Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and I projected a complete 7 round mock draft for the Browns.

While the Browns have filled some of their needs in free agency, there is still a lot of work that needs to be done in the draft. They have 10 picks to work with including 2 in the first round. But they had 2 first round picks last year and have yet to get any benefit from them.

By far the top need is a QB. Nothing on the roster gives me any confidence in the Browns winning more than a game or two. Unless they are planning to “Crash for Cardale” they need to get someone with an arm on the roster.

They are likely not going to be able to get either of the top two QB prospects in the draft. I believe both will be gone in the first two picks. But to give the team any chance to win they need to find a young QB with arm talent to compete in the AFC North.

The second most significant need is a pass rusher. I think they would be smart to take 2 in order to have a rotation. While there are a number of good prospects in the draft, they need to choose wisely.

They also need a backup NT. Phil Taylor has worn down the last couple of years and has had injuries that kept him out of games. While he needs to increase his conditioning, they need someone to fill in for him. The key to a solid defensive line is enough depth to allow a rotation.

They need a RT and backup C. There is a good chance that Alex Mack might leave next year. They need to get someone that can fill that spot. In addition they need a RT so they can move Mitchell Schwartz to RG.

In addition they could use another CB and S.

That is what I think. Tell us what you think by commenting here or tweeting me @NNRonDSN.
