Joe Haden Reveals His Next Move

Joe Haden commits to Steelers for three years, $27,000,000 and will play Browns in opening game

Now, this ought to be a fascinating opener.

Joe Haden, the Pro Bowl cornerback, released by the Browns on Wednesday, has agreed a three year contract with arch rivals the Steelers. This deal is worth $27,000,000, including $7,000,000 assured for this season, reports profootballtalk.com.

No longer do the Browns have to pay the $4,000,000 Haden was due to receive from them this season.

On September 10, the Browns will play hosts to the Steelers at the FirstEnergy Stadium. This particular run of events should add some extra fascination to the match.

“A tough competitor” according to receiver Antonio Brown. “He is a ruthless opponent. Certainly someone you need to be prepared and ready for. He is quick and strong”.

Originally, Haden was meant to enroll with the Steelers on Wednesday evening in Charlotte, NC, which is where the Panthers and Steelers play tomorrow evening in the preseason finale.

Released by the Browns on Wednesday morning, Haden could enroll with his new team after 16:00, and his next deal was revealed within minutes.

Adam Schefter, from ESPN, said that Haden had been offered … Read more at FryingPanSports

ESPN Should Suspend Stephen A. Smith

S Smith

Friday ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith said that sometimes women “provoke” spousal abuse. He then double-downed his comment on Twitter. Today he read a statement clearly written by the top brass that apologized for his comments. The problem is that his comments Friday echoed his position a couple of years ago about women provoking abuse.

This is clearly a guy that doesn’t get it. ESPN should at least suspend Smith for a month without pay for his comments on air and on twitter. Athletes have a particularly bad record with abuse of women. While it is in my opinion never justified, it must be punished. We will see exactly how ESPN feels about the issue based on what they do. My guess is they will do nothing.

That is what I think. Tell us what you think by commenting here or tweeting me @NNRonDSN.

NFL Fans Among Most Social

American football as it is widely referred to in many quarters is one of the most celebrated sport in America and the National Football League (NFL)  is arguably the most profitable sports business on this planet. The American population is widely renowned  for the love of football, if it is not watching an NFL game on the television with a couple of friends or family then you will probably find them on the stadium cheering  on their favorite NFL team. That in itself goes a long way to show the social impact NFL has on the lives of many people.

Well, a number of factors come into play when you consider NFL fans among most social. How to start your own sports team in five easy steps

Sometimes, it has to be said, organizing team raiding sessions in World of Warcraft doesn’t really fulfill all your social needs. You love the taste of victory, or crushing an enemy and leading your comrades to triumph, but it somehow seems hollow when, afterwards, you’re still sat at your laptop with only half a bag of Doritos and a 2 liter bottle of Mountain Due to celebrate.

If you want to combine that feeling of victory and comradeship with being in the same room as other people, it may be that starting your own sports team is the thing for you. Starting a sports team, whether it’s for a five-a-side football tournament, beach volleyball, bowling or even motorsports is a great way to spend some time with your mates and get a bit of exercise.

To do this, however, you must first complete several important steps, and they will all be (slightly) harder than the montage in that underdog sports movie you love so much.

Step One: Assemble the guys!

You can recruit players from a bunch of different places. Once you’ve press ganged everyone you can from you World of Warcraft guild and your drinking buddies at the bar, … Read more at FryingPanSports

What makes the Masters so Unique?

I was in my local watering hole the other day for a pleasant Friday afternoon pub dinner, only to find a golf tournament being shown on the big screen slightly surreal but none the less enjoyable. It seems that every time the PGA or European tour come through, not too much attention is paid to these relatively high stakes competition but when the Masters comes along even the most passive of a Golf enthusiast are truly engrossed in the four day tournament this year held in Augusta.

As I found myself enthralled by the amazing shots and the drama of the game at hand it caught me unaware that an hour had passed and I hadn’t taken my eyes off the screen, watching each and every lusciously carved shot by Schwartzel.

Obviously it is a Major Tournament and the golfer is judged on how many Majors they win over the course of their career, but there always seems to be an extra feeling of urgency when it comes to each player’s shot. On paper it is just another major and the money would pale in significance to what I feel is the major factor that inspires the pressure and … Read more at FryingPanSports
