Ohio State Lands Top Recruit: 5-Star D-Tackle Justin Scott Commits

Justin Scott

Hey there, Buckeye Nation! It’s a great day to be a fan of Ohio State football because we’ve just scored a huge recruiting victory! Justin Scott, the 5-star defensive tackle out of Chicago, has committed to our beloved university, and we couldn’t be more thrilled!

Let’s talk about this major win for the Buckeyes. Justin Scott’s decision to choose Ohio State is a significant milestone for our football program. This young man is no doubt one of the most sought-after recruits in the country, and his commitment speaks volumes about the caliber of talent that’s attracted to Ohio State.

Justin Scott

Now, some folks might have had their doubts, thinking we were lagging behind in the race for Scott’s signature. But hey, when it mattered most, our coaching staff and the entire Ohio State community stepped up, leaving a lasting impression on this top-notch prospect during his visit.

Justin Scott is a Game Changer

So, what makes Justin Scott such a game-changer for us? Well, he’s not just any defensive tackle; he’s the real deal! Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches and weighing in at a solid 310 pounds, Scott brings a perfect blend of size, strength, and agility to … Read more at FryingPanSports

Drafting QB Kizer was a good First step BUT…

DeShone Kizer was my top QB in a very weak class.  Clearly what happened to the Notre Dame program had a lot more to do with very bad coaching, even worse recruiting, and a brain-dead staff than what Kizer did or didn’t do.  But there are a bunch of issues that the Browns will have to address.

The first issue is Kizer’s mechanics.  A combination of a very pathetic O line, the lack of a consistent run game, and a group of wide receivers that couldn’t catch a cold standing naked in a sleet storm on Lake Michigan, his mechanics went south in a hurry.  But we saw him in 2015 and he as much better.

The question is can the Browns coaching staff get him back to his 2015 throwing motion and footwork?

The personnel department did a good job fixing the O line issues (except for RT) in free agency.  That was a good move because the O line in the draft was below average.  Kizer or whoever starts for the Browns will have better protection than last year.  That should also help the running game.  But this will be as difficult a test for the coaching staff … Read more at FryingPanSports

It is time for Oho State to put a muzzle on Dr. Gee

Brutus

Dr. Gee and I have a little history.  During his first stint as the President of OSU he would take calls during half time of the football games.  I called. Despite just accepting a nice salary bump for himself and tenured professors, Dr. Gee had just asked for more tax payer money.  I suggested that he and the others donate some of the large salary increases to offset the request to the legislature.  THAT was the last call that he ever took.  After that, the call in segment was dropped from the half time festivities.

For the second time in less than three years, Dr. Gee said something stupid for which he had to apologize.  Both times involved insults to the Catholic community.  His first was the “Sisters of the poor” comment.  This last one not only insulted the University of Notre Dame and its leadership but the entire SEC as well.

I have experience being a conservative in the liberal OSU.  I was told point blank that if I completed my graduate studies at OSU in political science, I would never get tenured.  My views were “too far out of the norm for this university.”  I … Read more at FryingPanSports

Bowl Championship Series RIP

The College Presidents’ Oversight Committee has approved a four team seeded playoff.  It is WAY overdue.

It is hard to understand why it took the ivy covered college presidents so long to realize their dream of squeezing more money out of the sport of football.  Any form of playoff would automatically generate a lot more money than the BcS ever did.  While this plan is a major step forward, I still have a lot of questions.

My first question is why did this take so long?  We hear that the Bowl system had to be protected.  Who among us did not shed a tear when the Poulan Weedeater Bowl went belly up?  I have more to say about the Bowls later.  But when a team must only win 6 games to qualify, how important can the bowl be?

Then there was the argument that a playoff would negatively impact the student-athletes.  But those same educators have no issues with the basketball players missing 3 weeks of school for the NCAA basketball championships.  And those require teams to visit 3 different cities.

Second it will not start until the 2014.  WHY?  Because none of the supporters of the BcS can … Read more at FryingPanSports

What did we learn from week 4 of the College Football Season?

The Big 10 (+1) knows how to schedule pre-league games.

Whether it is #2 Ohio State vs. Directional (Eastern) Michigan or #18 Iowa vs. Ball Corporation State, with just a few exceptions the Big 10 has played mostly easy opponents. Even so, a few teams had problems with the sisters of the poor. Northwestern struggled to defeat another Directional Michigan (Central) 30-25. Worse yet Purdue lost badly to Toledo of the MAC.

A few good games

#1 Alabama went to #10 Arkansas and came from behind in the 4th quarter to win 24-20. The game may have hurt QB Mallett’s pro prospects because he suffered 3 picks only one of which was not his fault.

#3 Boise St. beat #24 Oregon State 37-24. Except for a game against the current #25 Nevada, this was Boise’s last chance on a national stage to impress the voters and the computer of their case for inclusion in a National Championship game. Their win over Virginia Tech looked good until VTk lost to James Madison. The computers are killing Boise due to the “strength of schedule” factor to the point that I don’t think Boise can get into the Big Game.

#5 Oregon looked … Read more at FryingPanSports
