Joe Haden Reveals His Next Move

Joe Haden commits to Steelers for three years, $27,000,000 and will play Browns in opening game

Now, this ought to be a fascinating opener.

Joe Haden, the Pro Bowl cornerback, released by the Browns on Wednesday, has agreed a three year contract with arch rivals the Steelers. This deal is worth $27,000,000, including $7,000,000 assured for this season, reports profootballtalk.com.

No longer do the Browns have to pay the $4,000,000 Haden was due to receive from them this season.

On September 10, the Browns will play hosts to the Steelers at the FirstEnergy Stadium. This particular run of events should add some extra fascination to the match.

“A tough competitor” according to receiver Antonio Brown. “He is a ruthless opponent. Certainly someone you need to be prepared and ready for. He is quick and strong”.

Originally, Haden was meant to enroll with the Steelers on Wednesday evening in Charlotte, NC, which is where the Panthers and Steelers play tomorrow evening in the preseason finale.

Released by the Browns on Wednesday morning, Haden could enroll with his new team after 16:00, and his next deal was revealed within minutes.

Adam Schefter, from ESPN, said that Haden had been offered more by other teams, however he chose to commit to the Steelers.

For the last six years, Brown has faced Haden as an opponent, however he used his influence at the club to get him signed. The NFL Network reports that Brown told his coach that Haden still has lots of fire left in the tank.

An open letter to ESPN and the NFL Channel

95 percent of your viewers could care less about the New York Jokes (Jets).  If we wanted to watch clowns run into each other we would watch the Circus Channel.

Because both of you seem to live in Jets soap opera town, about 50% of us change the channel each time you start to cover the team.  We have gone from not caring about the Jets to hating them thanks to your super coverage of every dumb move they make.

So cover the other 31 teams more and let the Jets stew in their self made stupid sauce.

That’s what I think.  Tell me what you think.

5 Reasons Why Everyone Hates the Yankees

Do you hate the Yankees? If you’re not a Yankees fan, then the answer is “yes.” Let’s take a look at five reasons why most people hate the Yankees.

Reason #5 – New Yorkers

People hate New Yorkers. If you’re not sure why people hate New Yorkers, it has everything to do with arrogance. Then again, perhaps it can be called overconfidence. Have you ever been to New York – The Empire State? Everyone has their head held high – too high. New York City might be the greatest city to visit, but this goes to New Yorker’s heads a little bit too much, especially Yankees fans, who have enjoyed more World Series titles than any other team.

Reason #4 – Legacy

Baseball fans might not want to admit it, but there is no chance that any other team will ever catch the Yankees in terms of success. That particular team would need to go on an incomparable run without the Yankees doing anything during that timeframe. This is highly unlikely considering the Yankees often have the most talented players in the league.

Reason #3 – Money

Whatever happened to winning fair and square? Okay, so the Yankees might play fair on the field, but do they really play fair when it comes to management? They will go out of their way to use their power in order to land the best players – year after year. This makes it close to impossible for other teams to compete on a consistent basis. Have you realized that the Yankees are in the playoffs every single year?

Reason #2 – White Collar Team

The Yankees are all about the bright lights and the big city. Once a player arrives, he’s likely to hit the best restaurants and hottest nightclubs. While the same might be true for Red Sox players, they are perceived as a blue collar team from a blue collar city. That being the case, perception can be misleading, but it’s still a reason people hate the Yankees.

Reason #1 – Derek Jeter

You hate him or you love him. Most females love him. Most guys who aren’t Yankees fans hate him. It’s certain that he has burned their team on more than one occasion. He also has a certain swagger that can irritate any man. The debate rages on whether he is overrated or underrated. A lot depends on which team you’re rooting for. Nevertheless, Derek Jeter is the face of the Yankees and most people hate the Yankees.

Amber Tate was born in New York so naturally, she’s a Yankees fan. She loves the sport but she loves saving money more. Having an extra $300 per year in her pocket due to her affordable health insurance quote she received from Kanetix, an online insurance comparison website.

Niblets for May 2010

Best comment of the month: A Tale of two NCAA Violations

From justbuster

Good job on listing just a few of the violations at USC. Reading the blogs and comments that USC fans have left on other sites, I hope you’re prepared for the avalanche of infantile and just plain dumb invective that the minions of Troy are about to hit you with. They talk among themselves about ‘losing a few scolies’ and/or ‘minor probation’ but they just don’t seem to get it. They’re four square against ‘punishing the kids of today for the sins of yesterday’. Keep telling it like it is.

Having the political site Fryingpanpolitics.blog.com, I am used to people taking shots at me verbally. So far no shots from a gun. I do my best to let my readers know exactly what I think and really appreciate you and everyone else that has taken the time to leave a comment.

Updates on previous columns:

First round QBs in the NFL Draft may disappear.

The Raiders have filed a grievance against former QB and top overall pick JaMarcus Russell. The team claims in the filing that he owes 9+M of the money he was paid because his contract was changed and that money was intended to be advances on his salary for 2010-2012. Davis better sue Burger King because chances are they have more of Russell’s money than he does. One of the reasons he looks more like a NT than a QB is that he has 2 double Woopers as a snack between meals.

The Steelers are having off field problems with their players.

QB Ben Roethlisberger has been cleared by the league to rejoin the Steelers and participate in preseason activities. However, he must be away from the team from the end of the last preseason game until his suspension is over or Commissioner Goodell reduces it and again allows him to return.

Niblets fresh from the cob:

It looks like the NBA Western Conference Finals will go 7 games.

Both teams have held in home games. But Los Suns almost stole game 5 in LA coming back from 20+ down to take the game to OT. The Lakers will lose tonight at Phoenix then we will see who is the tough guy in game 7. I think the Lakers will win but I wouldn’t bet the farm on it.

Look for the Magic to make some changes in 2010-2011.

The Magic looked bad, horrible, OK then bad again in losing to the Celtics. The Magic just had no answer for PG Rondo but neither does anyone else. Right now he is playing the best ball in the post season. But the Magic need to get some help for Howard or look to lose again next season.

The Black Hawks look like the favorite in the NHL final series.

While the Flyers have been magic this playoff season, the Black Hawks just have too much talent to be denied. IF they can keep this team together financially, they could be a favorite for the next couple of championships.

Political Correctness strikes the NFL again.

The owners voted to give the 2014 Super Bowl to New Jersey. Enjoy the city of New York but they had better hope that Obama is right about global warming. They will need a lot of it to have a reasonable day in February.

Cowboy WR Patrick Crayton is in limbo. The Cowboys don’t really want him because he at best figures to be the 5th WR but is making 2M. But the Boys don’t want to trade him either even though he has asked to be dealt. They are waiting to see if they get a really good trade offer if a team loses a player.

Reports from Raider land say the O looks much improved.

The replacement of Russell with QB Jason Campbell has to have improved things. I could be more accurate than Russell and I am 62 years old.

RB LenDale White is cut by his college coach.

Former USC Coach Carroll traded for his college RB White during the 2010 draft. But despite losing 45 pounds, White was not in football shape and was cut. White is also facing a 4 game suspension for violating the NFL’s drug policy. If the guy that recruited you out of high school doesn’t think you can do the job, good luck getting another contract.

NFL RBs are struggling with injuries.

Titan RB Javon Ringer and Texan RB Ben Tate are both suffering with hamstring injuries. Dolphin Ronnie Brown is recovering from foot surgery. He will take part in the team’s minicamp even though he is a RFA. The problem is greater for Tennessee because star RB Chris Johnson is holding out and RB LeGarrette Blount may not be there for minicamp.

That’s what I think. Tell me what you think.
