What makes the Masters so Unique?

I was in my local watering hole the other day for a pleasant Friday afternoon pub dinner, only to find a golf tournament being shown on the big screen slightly surreal but none the less enjoyable. It seems that every time the PGA or European tour come through, not too much attention is paid to these relatively high stakes competition but when the Masters comes along even the most passive of a Golf enthusiast are truly engrossed in the four day tournament this year held in Augusta.

As I found myself enthralled by the amazing shots and the drama of the game at hand it caught me unaware that an hour had passed and I hadn’t taken my eyes off the screen, watching each and every lusciously carved shot by Schwartzel.

Obviously it is a Major Tournament and the golfer is judged on how many Majors they win over the course of their career, but there always seems to be an extra feeling of urgency when it comes to each player’s shot. On paper it is just another major and the money would pale in significance to what I feel is the major factor that inspires the pressure and … Read more at FryingPanSports

BCS Every Game Counts

The people that voted a 3 loss Texas team #2 over the previously unanimous #1 Ohio State team should lose their votes and be banished to watching the Golf Channel and listening to karaoke for eternity.

I don’t really have a problem with moving a 1 loss Kansas team over OSU despite the fact that they are not nearly as good a team as the Bucks. Kansas proved that by promptly losing to unranked 9 loss Kansas State. K State won for only the 2nd time since Moses was a young boy.

But what were the voters thinking by putting a 3 loss Texas team #2? Maybe the question should be are the voters capable of thought?

Texas lost at home to #4 Pitt then to an unranked USC on their floor. On Jan. 8th they lost at home again to #9 UConn. My question is this. How would you feel if like the joke of a “system” like the BcS decided the NCAA Basketball Champion?

The champion will be decided on the field just like every national college championship for every sport except BcS division football. But it will be interesting to see how the pin head voters pick … Read more at FryingPanSports

Using Airsoft Targets To Enhance Your Shooting Skills

The game of airsoft is amongst the many different kinds of extreme sports that continue to rise when it comes to popularity. Just like any other sports, it also involves the use of different kinds of equipments and accessories. The major equipments being used in playing airsoft are electric guns, tactical airsoft gears, targets, ammunition, and other accessories. Since airsoft revolves around using ammunition, this kind of extreme sport is usually being played by grown ups, although there are also times when kids are allowed to play — as long as they are being guided accordingly by grown ups.

For you to be able to completely enjoy the game, you should have complete airsoft equipments and accessories. Without proper protection, playing this game may get you injured. This is very true especially when you are playing against other players in a group or team battle. That is one reason why you should wear a complete set of airsoft protective gear that includes a helmet, a pair of gloves, boots, goggles, face mask, knee pads, and clothing. But, if you are only playing a practice game where you are shooting at airsoft targets, then wearing protective airsoft gear … Read more at FryingPanSports

There is a major fraud in College football but it is not the OSU players

The NCAA announced today that 5 Ohio State players will be suspended for 5 games in 2011 for selling Big 10+1 Championship rings, the Gold pants they get for beating Michigan and some other items. There is a HUGE fraud here but it has nothing to do with the 5 players. The FRAUD is the NCAA itself.

First, the 20 year old juniors assumed that the rings and other jewelry they won on the field and were presented were their property! The OSU AD Gene Smith (no relation) said that exact thing in a press conference.

My question for him and the NCAA is this. Who the hell are you to tell anyone what they can do with their own property!

We are not talking about the players selling a ring for 500K. These transactions were at a realistic value for the items sold but it is not about that. The majority of kids used the money to help their families, but it is not about that either.

At one time, this country was a republic. Private property was private and the owner could do with it WHATEVER he or … Read more at FryingPanSports
