News:

Eagles Coach Chip Kelly’s offense has now gone 8 quarters without scoring a TD.  The team is now 3-5 and have lost 2 in a row.  Kelly has been forced to slow down the super speed O because of injuries and turnovers.  The only thing keeping the Eagles in the race for the NFC Least title is the bad records of the other teams in the division.  The future of this O is still very much in question.

Cowboy WR Dez Bryant went off on the sideline during a loss to the Lions.  He is right that he is the most talented receiver on the team and needs to get the ball more often.  QB Tony Romo is struggling this year to get the ball … Read more at FryingPanSports

Is Eagle HC Reid on the hot seat?

Several months ago on NFLDraftDog.com I mentioned that Eagles HC Reid was on the hot seat.  This
was just one more example of my information and instincts being right.  More than a year before OC Weis left the
Chiefs for a lateral move to the OC spot at Florida, I reported that there was a conflict between him and HC Haley.

Last Sunday, a local Philly paper reported that the Reid era of the Eagles may be coming to an end.  There
are several reasons that is happening.   First, and most significant, there is a growing split between Eagle
owner Jeffrey Lurie and HC Reid.  The clearest evidence of that split was the issue of the starting QB between Mike
Vick and Kevin Kolb.  Reid named Kolb the starter for the 2010 season.  When he got hurt Vick became an exciting fan favorite.
But Reid announced that when Kolb recovered he would regain his starting spot.  Less than a week after that Vick
was named the starter for the rest of the season.  As the 2011 season finally got underway, Kolb was traded to the Cards and the spitting contest between the owner and coach over this issue was settled.… Read more at FryingPanSports

The Biggest Questions For the 2011 Fantasy Football Season

It looks like the new collective bargaining agreement is going into effect sometime today (7/25/2011) and we should start seeing action all over the pro football realm. This means the 25 million or so fantasy football players can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Fantasy football will be played, trades will be made, and trophies will be be won. There is a controversial question that has been hotly debated over the past few months, really since the end of last years fantasy season. Should Michael Vick not only be the #1 quarterback drafted but the #1 overall pick? There are millions of fantasy owners on both sides of the fence. Is there a right answer. I for one am not quite sure there is, but let’s see if we can find it.

Argument(s) For Vick Being The #1 Overall Pick

The main argument for Vick being the #1 overall pick is that he is the most unique and dynamic player in fantasy football. When that fantasy football draft board goes up should he be the #1 pick? Here is what proponents say about that question.

Vick is a risk/reward player but the reward far outweighs the risk. Vick in addition … Read more at FryingPanSports

What should the NFL do with Mikey Vick?

t

Michael Vick was released from prison today to spend the next couple of months of his sentence under house arrest. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is going to have to make a decision about QB Michael Vick’s return to the NFL before too long. The questions are how do you make the decision and what should that decision be.

How will the Commish make the decision: We are likely to hear a lot in the next few days about the difference between a right to play in the NFL vs. the privilege of playing in the league. Dictionary.com defines a right as that which is due to anyone by just claim, legal guarantees, moral principles, etc. It defines a privilege as a right, immunity, or benefit enjoyed only by a person beyond the advantages of most.

So, is playing in the NFL a right or a privilege? High school players earn college scholarships with a combination of their preparation, their play on the field and work in the classroom. Anyone that has ever tried to win a scholarship of any kind knows that it must be earned.

Every player in the NFL has worked his entire life to get to … Read more at FryingPanSports
