Is LeBron the best NBA player EVER? Maybe!

LeBron (2)

NOTE: NOTE: On NNR Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and I talked about game 1 of the NBA finals.

The Cavs’ “big 3” has turned into LeBron James and a bunch of “guys.” The injury to Kyrie Irving was a serious blow to the title hopes of the team but was not unexpected by Cavs fans. Despite a world of talent, there is an injury history that makes fans wonder when and not if Irving will be gone for the season.

Irving played a hand full of games at his only season at Duke before being hurt. In his rookie year he played in only 51 games due to injuries. In his second year he got into 59 games again due to injury. So his injuries in the 2014-15 season were not a shock to us. Nor was the injury to C Anderson Varejao who went down again this season. Andy has been healthy in only 2 of his 11 seasons with the Cavs.

Now James faces a very high scoring Warriors team with what is left on the roster. Paying the big 3 limited the amount of money that the Cavs had to provide a solid bench. Bench scoring … Read more at FryingPanSports

Has anyone seen this man?

Kevin Love

NOTE: On NNR Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and I analyzed the depth chart of the Browns. There will be no shows until Thursday the 28th. Paul Banks of the Washington Times will be my guest to talk Browns and Cavs. On the 29th Samantha and I will talk about which teams have done the best and the worst with both Free Agency and the draft.

I fully expect to see the picture of Kevin Love on milk cartons soon. He has not been on the bench watching his team struggle to a 3-0 advantage over the Hawks. We assume he has been busy rehabbing the injury.

However, his absence says a lot about the chances he will stay with the Cavs or move on. If he can not be bothered to watch the team try to win him a ring what chance is there that if he gets one he will resign with the Cavs? The answer is clearly not much of a chance we will see him in a Cavs uniform next year.

There are 3 critical questions we have to ask here. First, is there a better chance Love returns if the team wins a … Read more at FryingPanSports

NOTE: On NNR Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and I analyzed the depth chart of the Browns. There will be no shows until Friday the 29th. Have a great Memorial Day and thanks for listening.

While Pres. Obama in concerned about Global Warming, things could not get any colder in Atlanta. No, it is not the weather. It is the Cavs defense that has put the Hawks in cold storage.

Without 2 of the “Big 3” the Cavs on the back of LeBron James totally controlled the Hawks in game 2. James looked like Superman flying through the air and the Hawk defense.

The Hawks look disorganized and confused. They struggle to defend the Cavs and fail to make switches when needed. On offense they couldn’t throw the ball into the Grand Canyon hanging off the edge of it.

This time Cavs didn’t suffer a letdown. They built a lead and held it for the most part. The Hawks were one of the best 3 point shooting teams in the regular season. But they are finding out that the playoffs are a totally different game. They are 10 for 49 in this series behind the 3 point line.… Read more at FryingPanSports

The Key for the Cavs will be shot selection.

NOTE: On NNR Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and I analyzed the depth chart of the Browns. There will be no shows until Friday the 29th. Have a great Memorial Day and thanks for listening.

The Cavs are playing better defense than at any time during the regular season. That part of the game will be fine. The question is will the Cavs continue to attack the basket or settle for jump shots and bad 3 pointers?

If they take good shots and move the ball around they will beat the Hawks. If they take long jumpers and fail to attack the basket, they will go down and go down hard.

It is just that simple. They have to use their heads and not take bad shots. Bad shots lead to defensive rebounds and fast breaks for the opponents. That will lead to losses for the Cavs and an exit from the playoffs. Let’s hope they use their heads.

The Cavs loss to the Spurs bodes well for the playoffs.

Note: On NNR today Kelron Sykes College Football Insider & I discussed the NFL & our favorite defensive values in the 2015 NFL Draft. The podcast will be up on https://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/ after 8 tonight.

The Cavs lost but gave the NBA Champion Spurs all they wanted and more last night. The difference was the familiarity between the players on the floor. For the most part the Spurs have been together since 1900 (OK not quite that long) while the Cavs were playing just their 10th game together. Even so the Cavs were just 1 TO from winning the game.

The strength of the Spurs is their knowledge of what every player will do in each situation. That is why they have so few turnovers. It is also what allows their ball movement.

The Cavs are on the shake down cruise portion of the schedule. Add to the new teammates the fact that both the coach and the systems on both ends of the floor are new and the early season is bound to have ups and downs. The Cavs need to work hardest on the defensive end of the floor keeping the guards out of the lane and protecting Read more at FryingPanSports

LeBron to Cavs fans: R E L A X

Note: On NNR today David Kay of thesportsbank and walterfootball & I discussed the Cavs and NBA in detail. The podcast is on https://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/.

David agreed that despite the slow start, the Cavs will be just fine. That is not to say that the team is without issues. However, Coach Blatt and the Cavs will work out the rolls of each player.

To begin with SG Dion Waiters needs to buy into his job as primary scorer off the bench. He has been the 2nd option with the Cavs but now is the 6th man. With the addition of Kevin Love, PF Tristan Thompson has to adjust to being on the bench at the start of the game as well. While he seems to get it Waiters seems to be resisting the idea.

There are other issues as well. One that will not be solved any time soon is the lack of a true big man at C. The Cavs brought in Brendan Haywood but so far that has not solved the problem. A second issue has been the 2nd unit’s inability to maintain the leads that the starters created. That should lessen over time as Read more at FryingPanSports
