following Mr. Moo at 5 ). We will be on again after the draft tonight to discuss what happened. Please join us. Thanks

First year GM Ray Farmer stole the show last night. He moved around the draft board with the stealth of a ninja. He got the most of the trade down when he got the Bills 1 and 4 in 2015 for moving down from 4 to 9. Then he gave up only a 5th to move up to 8 to get his cornerback Justin Gilbert. Gilbert is a top cover guy but I am not sure if he knows what the word “tackle” means. He is not physical but has height and speed to cover the bigger receivers in the AFC North.

Farmer moved again from 26 to the infamous pick 22 (two former Browns QB failed being drafted at that pick) to get QB Johnny Manziel. He gave up a 3rd to get that pick and the move was necessary because there were other teams reportedly after Johnny Football. He is not my first choice at QB because … Read more at FryingPanSports

The Browns shopping list for Free Agency.

BrownsLogo1

NOTE: Evan Silva of Pro Football Talk and RotoWorld joins Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and former NFL scout Kelron Sykes Monday at 6 PM EDT to talk about which free agents the Browns should pursue. Join us on or https://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/.

The free agent period begins at 4PM EDT Tuesday. Like all teams the Browns have several holes that could be best filled with a veteran free agent rather than a rookie. Unlike other teams the Browns have more than 50 million dollars to spend. They will not use all of it because some will be necessary to pay the rookies and to take care of critical 2015 free agents. Here is my position list for the Browns in free agency.

Inside linebacker:

Last week the Browns gave Restricted free agent ILB Craig Robertson a qualifying offer. That should allow him to stay in Cleveland. However, with the release of D’Quell Jackson, the Browns need a fast young veteran to play along side the one year vet. Robertson is not effective at pass coverage. The Browns have been vulnerable for years to tight ends and running backs catching passes. The only way to solve that is by … Read more at FryingPanSports

Thoughts about week 13 in the NFL

The Seahawks are really good.

I projected QB Wilson as the 3rd best QB prospect in the 2012 draft.  The Seahawks and I were both right.  He is not getting the pub that Luck and RG3 get but is playing just as well with fewer picks than Luck and more wins than RG3.  To go into Chicago and beat the Bears was a major step forward.  The Hawks will be a very tough out.

The Niners made the right decision about Kaepernick.

Kaep can do so much more than QB Smith ever could that the move in my opinion was overdue.  Kaep can throw down field and has the guts and arm to throw the ball into small windows.  While the running game and D will win a lot of regular season games, to win in the playoffs you need a QB to throw down field.

Even with two straight wins the Browns need to fire Shurmur after the season.

The Browns have beaten a Steeler team with a 90 year old QB fresh out of the retirement home and a Raider team that has a history of beating itself more often than winning.  Shurmur … Read more at FryingPanSports
