NBA Playoff version of Tackle Basketball has to stop.

NBA xNOTE: On NNR Samantha Bunten of NBC Sports and I projected the records of the AFC North teams game by game. I want to thank all of you that take time to listen to the pod. We really appreciate you. Thanks.

Cavs forward Kevin Love is out for the next series and quite possibly the playoffs because the NBA refs won’t do their job. The series got more and more physical as it went on between the Celtics and Cavs. I have officiated basketball games between grown men including some former NBA players and could tell the game Sunday was getting away from the refs.

The NBA is built on stars playing in the premier event of the season—the playoffs. The league owners should take immediate action to make it clear that the officials must do a better job in keeping control of the game. If not, you will see more stars eliminated from the playoffs from dirty play.

I will watch the Cavs games because I am a fan of the team. But I have NO interest in watching any other team. The gutless guys with silent whistles have ruined the league for me. I have a feeling that … Read more at FryingPanSports

Thank you LeBron

LeBron (2)

Note: On NNR today Kelron Sykes, College Fooball Insider & I discussed the NFL and college football. The podcast is on https://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/.

I am a suffering Cleveland sports fan and a former owner of the Cavs. I bought stock in the Cavs when they were pubically owned. I was there in the old old downtown arena when the Cavs beat the Lakers for the first time.

LeBron, you have given this old Cavs fan the best gift possible—A chance to win. Whatever happens this year, the fans owe you a great deal of thanks. You and the other Cavs will give us a chance to cheer for a winning team. I loved the way you played the first time you were here. You and the Cavs came close to winning it all. Now you have the kind of supporting roster that would never have come to Cleveland without you being here first.

Like all Cavs fans I hope for the team is that they win the title. But whatever happens we support you and the team. Thanks again for bring an old man hope.

That is what I think. Tell us what you think by commenting here or tweeting me Read more at FryingPanSports

LeBron is LeGone to Miami

LeBron announced tonight that he is going to play for the Heat next season. It was a good decision for him but could be fatal to the Cavilers.

In Miami he will play with both Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh and a cast of rejects and no names.

In Cleveland, there is a hole the size of the Pacific Ocean right in the middle of the starting lineup.

Miami now has a total of 6 guys on the roster. PG Mario Chalmers and C Joel Anthony will join the Second 3 (the first big 3 was the Celtics) as starters with utility man Michael Beasley most likely to be traded for multiple vets. James is used to playing 35+ minutes a night and unless the team can find a few cheap vets, he will have to. The starters should be among the best in the league. But very often, championships require a decent if not strong bench. This team will be DEEP into luxury tax land and will have to find a bench willing to play at league minimum. They do have a couple of rookies they can sign.

The Cavs now have enough cap room to sign a top … Read more at FryingPanSports

Home Court advantage is the road to a crown for LA or Cleveland.

t

By Bill Smith

One of the great things about being a grandfather is that you get to play a lot of home games on holidays. The home court advantage in the 08-09 season is the key to winning the championship. Until Kevin Garnett was hurt for the Celtics, the race was a three team affair. Without KG, the Celtics have struggled and the contest for the best overall record is down to just two teams—The LA Lakers and the Cleveland Cavs.

This year the race for home court advantage is critical. Cleveland is 32-1 at home this season. That loss was to LA 101-91 on Feb. 8. The Cavs should have home court in the Eastern Conference and that will definitely help in a series against Boston. The Cavs hold a 5 game advantage over Boston in the loss column with 12 games left. In 18 games over the last 2 season, the home team has won every time. Had game 7 of that series been at Cleveland rather than in Boston in the series last year, the Cavs likely would have won and gone … Read more at FryingPanSports
