MN pass O (28th) vs DT pass D (19th)
DT pass O (16th) vs MN pass D (4th)
PH NG-2.5 Former HC of DT Jim Schwartz has made a HUGE difference on PH D.  It is very solid.

CR pass O (9th) vs LA pass D (12th)
LA O (25th pass 29th run) vs CR D (30th pass 3rd run)
NO-3 SF NO QB Brees has no help on O or D.  He is a one man band.
3-4 1-6 SF HC Chip Kelly realizes that his O is not working. He will slow it down.  That won’t help the D!
Brees & NO pass O (1st) vs SF pass D (an over rated 7th because they are 32nd vs run)
SF run O (4th but falling like a rock without Hyde) vs NO run D (18th only because they are 29th v the run)
IN GB-7 GB pass game suffers from WRs not getting open. Now Rodgers is holding the ball too long. Bad combo!

IN pass O (12th) vs GB pass D (16th)

SD pass game (7th) vs TN pass D (20th)
TN run game (5th) vs SD run D (6th only because everybody passes vs SD)
DV OK pk Game of the week for the lead in AFC West.

OK O (4th pass 8th run) vs DV D (1st pass 24th run)
DV O (27th pass 20th run) vs OK D (28th vs pass & run)
BF SE-7 Monday
4-4 4-2-1
DA-7 CL Best team in NFC vs worst team in the AFC.  WOW Really looking forward to this game!

DA pass O (19th) vs CL pass D (25th)
CL run O (10th and falling like a rock) vs DA run D (9th)
CL pass O (20th) vs DA (18th) Kessler is starting
DA O Std formation is 11 personnel.
Throw and run to the edge a lot. That will be a HUGE problem for CL.
DA D Std formation 4/3 with 2 deep safeties but they use bump & run in the red zone.
Not much pass rush. Run blitz needs to be watched by CL
D backfield is down CB Clairborn & S Church

Browns Steelers

The NNR podcast is up on http://fryingpansports.com/radio-show/. Check it out. Thanks, Papa

No question that the Browns fans, the city of Cleveland and the team needed a win over the hated Steeler Nation. They not only got it but did it in style with the 31-10 victory in Cleveland yesterday.

But there were extenuating circumstances that took a lot of the luster off the win. Of course the season ending injuries C Alex Mack and DE Armonty Bryant took some of the joy out of the win.

But the win had far more to do with offensive and defensive breakdowns by the Steelers than great play by the Browns. That is not to say that the Browns played poorly. That is not the case. But on both sides of the ball the Steelers made mistakes that allowed the Browns to score and prevent scores by Pittsburgh.

The both the long passes to TE Jordan Cameron were blown coverages by SS Troy Polamalu. In each case he chased a player that was not his responsibility rather than covering Cameron who was his charge.

The Steelers have struggled for more than 2 years in the red zone. Their ineptness was a major contributor to failing to make the playoffs. The blown field goal attempt ignited the Browns O explosion. That led directly to the Browns TD.

The Browns took advantage of the Steeler mistakes but that has not happened often in this “rivalry.” QB Brian Hoyer threw only 17 passes and the Browns still beat them. But all the stats were nearly identical. The Steeler errors were mostly responsible for the Browns win.

That is what I think. Tell us what you think by commenting here or tweeting me @NNRonDSN.
