A Recap of UFC 115

Chuck Liddell

UFC 115 and more specifically the fight between Rich Franklin and Chuck Liddell was between two fighting legends. Although, highly touted fights usually result in a dud fight this one lived up to all the hype! Both fighters have held UFC championship titles with Chuck holding the light heavyweight belt from 2005 until 2007 and Rich holding the middleweight title from 2005 until 2007. These two fighters have massive followings so it was going to be a clash that a lot of fans have wanted to see for a long time!

Although this was a very good fight it was a bit short when Chuck Liddell once again saw the wrong end of a knockout punch. In this knockout punch Franklin punched Liddell with his right hand and Liddell went down immediately and stayed out for the whole count. It is ironic that Chuck Liddell was known for so many years as the knockout artist who never got knocked out in a mixed martial arts event and now has gotten knocked out 4 of his last 6 fights.

However, up until the knockout it was a very good fight with lots of action. Franklin even broke his left forearm in the opening seconds of the round but continued through the fight. Franklin was able to grab the best knockout of the night honors which gave him an extra $85,000 to put in his pocket.
